Tu Le and his brother opened the first Jack’s Burger Shack in St. Albert’s Perron District in 2013. Jack’s Burger Shack was named after Tu's nephew and has always been a family-owned business that takes pride in delivering killer burgers at a competitive price. Based on their 4.8-star rating on Google, they have reached and surpassed that goal. St. Albert loved Jack’s so much that they decided to open their brand new second location in the heart of Downtown Edmonton on 104th street and Jasper Avenue in December 2021.
After a short interview with Tu, I learned that he and his brother have a mission to support other local businesses that allows them to keep their prices low, use the freshest ingredients available, and support our Alberta economy all at the same time. Tu says it takes a lot of extra effort to build relationships with the farmers and do his own delivery without the tools that are provided when you order from conventional food suppliers, but it’s worth it. I can personally attest to that fact given Tu’s burger may have been the best I’ve ever had. I was blown away by the size of the burger, and equally impressed with the flavour. Tu gets his potatoes and beef, two of his most used ingredients, from local farmers, and has his bread baked daily. What really struck me is that Tu doesn’t advertise his commitment to local because he feels that shopping local has become too much of a buzzword. That to me feels so genuine that we have to tell people about it for him!
